What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle, therapeutic complementary treatment that is used to improve general health and well-being. It promotes the body’s natural ability to heal itself by inducing a state of deep relaxation.

Reflexology works to improve circulation and open up neural pathways to encourage restoration of the body to its natural, healthy, balanced state.

Reflexology is based on the principle that there are various pressure points in the face, hands, ears and feet, known as reflexes which correspond to all of the body’s organs, glands and systems. When the body is in full health, energy flows freely between the reflexes and corresponding parts of the body. However, when the body is out of sync this energy becomes stagnant and blocked. Reflexology works to gently stimulate the reflex for the affected area and release the blockage, thereby promoting the body’s ability to function at an optimal level.

Reflexology has been practiced for over 5000 years, it originated in the Orient and has been used by Buddhist Monks in China since 2700BC, reaching Japan around 700AD. Reflexology remains popular in modern times as non-invasive, drug-free, safe and effective treatment.

More and more clinical evidence is emerging all the time to prove the efficacy of regular reflexology treatments in the alleviation of the effects of illness and injury, the easing of stress and tension and the promotion of feelings of calm and relaxation.

This Holistic therapy is non-invasive, gentle, supremely relaxing and suitable for all ages.
